16 Pledge Drive —

Community service is a time-honored
tradition for our chapter, and one of our perennial service projects is
providing support for ThinkTV Channel 16/14 Pledge Drives and
Auctions. And true to form, eleven members of the chapter were at the ThinkTV studios
on December 9th to take pledge drive calls from 7 p.m. to 10:45 p.m.

|
Dave Romanko,
shown here in the front-left position, spearheaded the drive to coordinate
with Channel 16 and enlist membership support. Good job, Dave!
Seated to Dave's left are John Glaser and Holly Regan. Randy Gallas
and Carolyn Spiller, seated in the back row, are regular attendees at
ThinkTV pledge drives. With such a fine group of skilled
call-takers we wouldn't be surprised if pledges Monday evening shattered
all records.

|
Seated in adjoining rows are (front
row) Vic Folwarczny, Edie Kreider, and Mark Dowd. In back (from l to
r), are Bob Kreider, Jane Lux, and Rick Lux. Look at those busy
phones — the pledges just keep on rolling in!

|
Kristine Bontrager, Associate
Producer, provided instructions and guidance to our gang on how to answer
pledge calls.

|
Jim Weiner, ThinkTV Program
Director, and Kitty Lensman, Pledge Drive Producer, were two of the on-air
personalities that evening. With poised self-assurance and smooth
deliveries, they made a clear, concise, and cogent case for generous
financial support of TV16.

Here's a behind-the-scenes shot
taken just prior to going on-the-air. Jim Weiner is at stage center while
Roy Flynn, the evening's third on-air personality, is at stage left.
Unfortunately our intrepid Penn State crew is mostly hidden.

It's breaktime! And our group
gets a chance to swap conversation with some of the TV16 crew.
Wonder what Jane Lux is telling the very interested white-shirted camera
lady and (far right) Dick Robinson, Floor Manager. Rick,
Carolyn, John and Dave gaze in rapt attention.

Dick and Roy confer on the
countdown signals for the upcoming on-air segment. Dick and your
webguy / photographer had a lively conversation during one of the
breaks. Dick's a '57 grad of Fairview High School, is semi-retired
after a career in the broadcasting industry, and uses Photoshop to edit
photo images with his Mac.

Here are Jim and Kitty a few
seconds before going back on-the-air. As you can plainly see, our
highly disciplined communicators have taken up their positions and are
confidently poised to receive another avalanche of calls.

|
After the stress of a sustained,
unrelenting stream of calls, it's easy to understand why our crew welcomes
another break. Here we see them laughing, giggling, and
cavorting around to relieve the pressure. Jane Lux (far left) wastes
no time in making her way off the set and to the breakroom.

Our folks admittedly think fast on
their feet, but from time to time they need to ask a question or seek
additional guidance for the proper performance of their phone
duties. Here we see Kristine, during air time, pondering some
unfathomable question collectively submitted by Vic and Edie.

What's the red sweater doing in
this shot? Never mind that Bob Gehman arrived too late to get his
own phone — but just in time to take some pictures of this fantastically
talented and good-looking alumni group. A big thanks goes to all
these folks for helping make the TV16 Pledge Drive a success.
