Habitat for Humanity Projects, April 24, 1999, in Dayton, Ohio

On a beautiful spring Saturday morning, April 24, 1999, to be exact, club members gathered to support  local Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity (DOHH) projects.  Under the direction of chief honcho Marguerite Sharp (ably assisted by hubby Lou), the "construction gang" began work at DOHH's Rustic Road site, off Salem Avenue.  DOHH foreman Bob Plummer supervised the work, which mostly entailed weeding, yard cleanup, and sowing grass seed.  On hand to help out — in addition to Marguerite and Lou — were Mark Dowd and his daughters, Dave Diven and his son Eric, and Bob Gehman.

After several hours work at Rustic Road and a lunch break, the crew moved south to DOHH's Roosevelt Avenue site.  We were privileged to attend The Blessing ceremony for the Hope Williams Home, at 1503 Roosevelt Avenue.  We then spent the waning hours of the afternoon under the watchful eye of Marguerite and DOHH foreman Kenneth Meek.  Primary tasks were loading, transporting (via wheelbarrows), and spreading topsoil around the foundations of two nearly completed houses.

Here are a few pictorial glimpses of how we spent the day . . .
