Lady Lions vs Lady Buckeyes

January 25, 2004

    .

There were only a few brave souls who flaunted dire predictions of an impending blizzard and dared to make the trip to Columbus.  Janie Gehman, Rae Siders, and Ron Siders, pictured here, were glad they got to see the Lady Lions.  Too bad there were approximately 30 faint of heart who remained in Dayton, because we sure were lonely in the Schottenstein Center.  More's the pity.  Blue and white were not the prevailing colors of the day — except on the basketball floor.

The Lady Lions warm up before the game.  We were, of course, very interested in watching the scoring prowess of Kelly Mazante.  She didn't disappoint — scoring 19 points, most of them 3-pointers.

OK! OK!  So we weren't totally alone.  You'll see the friendly face of Katie Schiller here, pictured with some of her family.  Left to right are Brooke, Mark, Katie, her nephew Connor, and her sister Debi.

The players take a break and the OSU cheerleaders strut their stuff during a "commercial timeout."  These timeouts are almost as annoying as they are when they interrupt your TV living room viewing.

Our beloved Lady Lions return to the court after their halftime break.

This picture says it all — Penn State 70, Ohio State 64.  It was an exciting game, and OSU was competitive until the final three minutes.

The party's over, and it's "lights out" for ol' Brutus.  How sweet it was!

Dejected Ohio State fans file slowly and quietly out of the Schottenstein Center.  But you can't begin to appreciate the high spirits of the Siders and the Gehman's as they returned to Springfield and Dayton.
