HOLIDAY PARTY

On Wednesday, December 3, 2003, we welcome you and yours to celebrate the holidays with your Penn State friends at the WPAFB Officers Club. The food is delicious and merriment abounds. The cost is $28/person and the dress code is Coat and Tie (holiday accoutrements always a great idea). Cocktails are at 6:30PM (cash bar) with dinner at 7:00PM. If you have any questions, contact Edie Kreider at kreiderfam@prodigy.net or  937-429-5501 or contact me at 937-258-0924 or  vfolwarczn@aol.com   Please return the enclosed form with your check payable to the Penn State Alumni Chapter of Greater Dayton by November 28, 2003.

STUDENT SEND-OFF PICNIC

The annual student send-off picnic was held Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the home of Bob & Edie Kreider's.  The two $1100.00 scholarships were awarded to Chris Weed and Steve Kreider.  Steve could not attend but Chris was there to receive his award and watch as recognition was also accorded to Jenna Gallas, the only other PSU student at the Picnic.  Unfortunately, there were no incoming freshmen this year.  If you go to the website, you will see the joy on Jenna’s face as she receives one of our chapter's coveted paper holder cubes and I describe to her the functional utility and aesthetic attractiveness of the cube.

FOOTBALL TRIP TO PURDUE

Another successful trip was accomplished by a group of very merry revelers. Too bad the team could not come through with a win. The bus overflowed with not only Penn State fans but with food and libation.  I believe 45 people took the trip since we obtained extra tickets from the PSU Alumni in Columbus. Any further words here would not nearly describe the trip any better than Bob Gehman’s pictures and story that he has put together and posted on the website. So I direct you there.

FOOTBALL

At the time of this writing the PSU football team still has 3 more chances for a win. So I hope you have joined us at the Fox & Hound in Centerville and enjoyed fellowship and rallied on the team with cheers and song. I suspect by the time you are reading this only the Michigan State game will be left to play.  Come join us for the final game of the 2003 season.

November 8                 at Northwestern (TBA)

November 15               Indiana (TBA)

November 22               at Michigan State (TBA)

Hope to have seen you or will see you there.

BOARD MEETING

A brief Board Meeting will be held during the Holiday Party in December.  See section on the HOLIDAY PARTY.  All members are welcome to attend this and any meetings. Membership to the Board is open to any chapter member. The board meetings occur about 4 times a year.

 CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS

Donations are welcome. Your support of this fund will allow us to continue to assist our students, and to increase the amount and/or number of  scholarships we can award. The fund is endowed through the Pennsylvania State University. As noted earlier, Chris Weed and Steve Kreider each received one of the two $1100.00 scholarships.

 30TH ANNIVERSARY:

We still have desk cube paper holders with our club logo embossed on the side. The cost of each is $10.00 and they can be obtained from Edie Kreider, Vic Folwarczny, or Randy Gallas. They will also be available at the Football Parties at the Fox and Hound, in Centerville. Having the cube at home or work is not only useful when you need to jot a note, it lets others know that PSU is alive in the Miami Valley. Our logo displays the PSU Nittany Lion along with the Wright Flyer.  These would make great stocking stuffers.
