A Message from the President

Welcome Penn Staters!

On behalf of the Dayton Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, I would like to welcome you to the area. The Dayton and Miami Valley area  is a growing, diverse community with activities to match almost any interest.

The Dayton Chapter also has much to offer Penn Staters new to the area. With over 500 alumni in the Dayton area, the Dayton Chapter can help you transition to the new area, as well as provide a link back to Happy Valley. The chapter strives to support both the local alumni and the Dayton area through the following activities:

Social Gatherings:  Almost any reason will suffice for a chapter get-together: football Saturdays, a Spring Banquet, area sporting events, a summer picnic. The Dayton Chapter offers a wide range of activities which share the same emphasis: family and fun.

Community Involvement:  The Dayton Chapter is working to increase Penn State’s presence in the Miami Valley. Through service projects with Habitat for Humanity and Greater Dayton Public Television (ThinkTV Channel 16), the Dayton Chapter is making Penn State more visible in southwest Ohio.

Alumni Admissions: The Dayton Chapter’s Alumni Admissions team is responsible for spreading the word about Penn State to local high school students. The Team represents Penn State at high school college fairs and talks with hundreds of prospective students about the many opportunities Penn State has to offer.

Scholarship Program:  The Dayton Chapter also awards two scholarships each year to local students attending Penn State.  Although our scholarships are endowed at the university, we continue to make contributions to them each year to help keep pace with rising tuition costs.

Of course, fall is a special time of the year for Penn Staters, especially deep in Big Ten Country. As mentioned, please join us every football Saturday as we gather to cheer on the Nittany Lions at The Fox and Hound,  located south of town at 687 Lyons Road.  If you need further directions, give the Fox and Hound a call at 937-432-9904.

Again, welcome to the Dayton area.  I'm looking forward to seeing you at future Penn State gatherings.  Please feel free to call me at 937-339-2307 or send e-mail to me at anthomi4@aol.com .

Sincerely,

Michael Anthony, President
Dayton Chapter, Penn State Alumni Association
